Hello, I am a new member but have had my G for over 10 years. I live in the USA but found this forum and can us the translate key. My question is about tires as I am getting ready to purchase new ones. The local dealer say I need Bias ply but by reading the forums it looks like many of people in here use radials. So is there any difference between them that affect riding??
Thanks, Gary

Re: Radial vs Bias Ply Tires
Most of the riders in germany are using RADIALS like:
Bridgestone BT023 / T30 / T30EVO / T31
Dunlop "RoadSmart 2"
Metzeler z8F+z6R
They make the G easyer to ride.

Re: Radial vs Bias Ply Tires
Hallo Gary,
Hello Gary,
Don't do that. I think this is a joke.
have a look at the forum at "Bridgestone T31". Maybe this topic will help you further.
In Germany, there are state-regulated licenses for tires.
The tire manufacturers / dealers then pass them on to the customers.
Your dealer wants you diagonal mature. is there a deeper meaning behind it?
is there such a thing for bikes at all?
maybe you should visit another tire dealer

Re: Radial vs Bias Ply Tires
I had a look at some explanations in youtube regarding the difference between bias and radial tyres.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJJxSlls-tA" onclick="window.open(this.href,'_blank');return false;
In combination with the low speeds in the US and the heavy weight of the "G" the dealer's suggestions may have some sense. Bias tyres are made for these specifications.
What are you doing mostly with you "G"? Mostly riding along the highways and interstates or more on the smaller and curvy county roads?

Re: Radial vs Bias Ply Tires
That's right, Dieter. As always: It depends. I wouldn't recommend Bias ply or Radials in general. Gary, if you tame the Dragon's Tail twice a week I would set on Radials. They have stiffer side cords and that leads to a better handling on curvy roads. And they last longer.
Bias ply are good enough for easy riding. Tire specs on the web say that they tend to get elliptic at higher speed and so they wear out faster in the middle.
